I guess I should give more backstory so you know what I'm talking about. If you don't like super lovely dovey stuff, you'll want to skip this. On any other occasion, I would too. She changed my world, my thinking, and flipped my world around like a roller coaster whirling around a blender.
I don't know why I remember it so vividly, maybe it was because it was the best day of my life. I remember how cool it was. Some friends and I decided to spend the way exploring the woods. It was really hot during the day. During that period, only two things occupied my thoughts: how irritating the mosquitos were and how much I was panting! I'm surprised I didn't pass out! Anyway, back to my story. (I get distracted easily) About three miles into the woods, there was a clearing, which led up to a small inclined hill. It looked like a giant recliner in the ground, perfect for looking at the sky. Staring into space isn't exactly my favorite thing in the world, so naturally, I ignored it.
I'm an honest guy, so I won't lie to you and say what happened next was totally different. I took a moment to laid down on that hill because I was so exhausted. They all decided to head back, I chose to stay back and use my nose to lead me home when I decided my muscles weren't feeling like lead anymore. It got dark surprisingly fast. Or maybe it seemed like it because I was half asleep and half awake.
While drifting in and out of the dream world, a heard something crack a stick. The most beautiful vision of a collie, much like myself, came into view. I swear the world stopped. The water stopped rolling along, birds stopped chirping, heck, even the mosquitos stopped biting. More importantly, my heart stopped beating. I discreetly pushed one paw onto my other, hoping the slight pain would wake me up from this dream of mine. It seemed so real. Maybe because it was. Reality hit hard and pulled me temporarily out of my reverie when I tripped on my own two paws while moving to get a better look at this spotted beauty.
"You okay there?" The feminine voice said. Her entire self was in plain view now, boy was she gorgeous. I guess you could say I was head over heels from just looking at her.
"Psshyeah," I said quickly, obviously because of my nervousness. If I had no fur and had skin as naked as a human's, I'd be blushing ferociously and sweating profusely.
She confidently padded over and examined my paws. She was as regal as a lioness, and as nurturing as a mother bird towards me. Wow, I sound really deep. The fur on the back of my neck stood on end, which was sort of embarrassing. I don't think she noticed though. When her paw touched mine, I felt as if someone shocked me, I was in such a fixated daze that I could've been struck by lightning and I wouldn't have even noticed. When her paw touched mine, I felt invincible. That lightning wouldn't stop me from getting to know her.
"I'm Gir," I said, using as much manly courage I could muster up. I'm not good in many situations, especially those that involve talking to strangers. A beautiful, female stranger was impossible.
"Nice to meet you, Gir," She said with a smile that appeared on her face in a calmly fluid manner, "I'm Aurora."
Before I could open my mouth and say something stupid, she asked, "So what brings you here?"
Yeah, this is the time everything falls apart. Do I tell her I was too weak and tired to head home after a hike?
"Just exploring around, I like a little exercise. Why are you here?" One of my buddies once told me that replying with questions helps girls do more of the talking. Boy, I hoped it was true. I wanted to hear more from her and a LOT less from me.
"I like coming out here at night to look at the sky. It just shows you how small you really are and how big this world actually is." Man, she's so profound. I stayed in awed silence.
"Ever wonder how many other people are looking at the same sky as you? That's what I love about the stars. I'm not trying to be funny, but they're universal. Everyone can see their beauty by just one tilt of the head and it's there for everyone."
I said, "That's beautiful, I totally agree." I just wanted to let her keep speaking.
"You're pretty chatty, huh?" She giggled, "If you want to stay a while, I could show you all the constellations, that is, if you don't know them already," Aurora winked. I think I melted into a puddle of dog.
"I know what the Big Dipper is," I blurted, "And the moon!"
"Stargazing is tranquil and relaxing when you're alone, but the only issue with being alone is that you tend to get lonely. I could use a pal for once."
"Count me in!" I smiled.
The night was a blur of stars, galaxies, nebulas, constellations. Sure, it was interesting, but none of those things meant anything to me as much as she did. I can't believe I fell so easily. She's so perfect.
Small talk turned to deep questions (obviously asked by her, I'm not that profound) and all of this was manifested in one word. Love. I actually mustered up enough courage to lay closer to her, it was electric.
The night was seemingly as infinite as the stars above us, but it flew by just like a summer. All and all, it was perfect, and it was easily the best time of my entire life. I can't wait to spend more of it with her.
That's how it all happened.

IN-dus
"American Indian" Indus is very soft spoken, and is a lot like his sister. However, unlike his fellow sister, Indus isn't always nice to others. Often times he gets so riddled with anxiety that he gives everyone the silent treatment. Indus struggles with his anxiety, and as he grows up he will have to figure out how to manage it. If Indus can get over his anxiety, perhaps making friends will be a lot easier for the poor pup. |
LYE-rah
"Lyre" If you had to pick one puppy with the calmest temperament, it would probably be Lyra. Due to a collie's natural energy levels, all of her siblings are usually zipping and barking around. For some peculiar reason, this gal is as mellow as it gets! She often prefers snoozing or watching her siblings play instead of actually getting involved in their roughhousing. She's extremely mature; her parents often joke that they can count on her to be an extra mommy if need be! Lyra feels obligated to watch over her brothers and sisters in an almost maternal sense. Whenever they're hurt, she's the first one to run and alert mom and dad about the emergency. |
AYE-ra
"Altar" Don't let her innocent eyes fool you, Ara knows a lot more than she lets on. All of her time is spent in libraries and book stores, ingesting as much information as she can. She carries herself highly, but is never one to put anyone down. Her hobbies have led her to prefer quiet and seclusion, which is exactly how she likes it!
|
VO-lanz
"Flying Fish" Volans is full of adventure! He's an optomistic little dude, his tail is always just a' waggin'! Volans enjoys adventuring, trying new things, and seeing the world with a different view. He likes making others happy, and generally does the right thing. He loves the outdoors! His favorite smell has got to be the smell of a crackling fire. Volans is quite social compared to a few of his siblings, but Volans does enjoy some alone time to collect his thoughts and relax peacefully. |
CORE-vuss
"Crow" Corvus is much like his coat; complex. He's kind of socially awkward, says the wrong things at the wrong times, stutters sometimes, and is very nervous. However, Corvus is extremely intelligent, he has an answer for everything. His favorite hobby is studying anything he can get his paws on. While making friends may not be his strongest point, he is very impressive with his knowledge and vocabulary skills. Overall, he's bound to find some friends that will understand him. |
SEE-lum
"Sculptor's Chisel" Caelum always has his head in the clouds. He can most defiantly be classified as a dreamer! While he may appear simple to the eyes, he's actually a very interesting individual. He's nearly a philosopher, always coming up with new theories and ideas about how the world works. He enjoys star watching with others, and he is moderately social. Caelum is a pretty calm boy, though his mind is constantly exploding with new thoughts. |
SUR-sin-us
"Compasses" Circinus is a very talented girl! She has a plethora of hobbies, but her main favorites are singing and dancing. Though she also enjoys writing and camping! She is extremely graceful, her movements are beautiful and can capture anyone's attention. Her voice is almost more impressive; hitting the perfect tones at the perfect times. No matter what she does, she always puts her heart and soul into it. She believes if your going to do something, you have to give it your all! |
SKOR-pee-us
"Scorpion" Scorpius is a very sly creature. He doesn't recognize other's emotions, and basically will manipulate and lie to get what he wants. He's extremely intelligent, which is unfortunent for his victims. Much like a scorpion, he will "sting" you with backstab and betrayal. However, to get on his good side, you have to be almost exactly like him. Overall, Scorpius lacks social skills, moral grounds, and lacks empathy. |
LEW-puss or LOO-pus
"Wolf" Lupas is probably the biggest mama's boy you'll ever meet. He's always following at her heels, always looking for attention, and most of all, always craving love! Whenever play fights go too far, he runs straight to his mom for some comforting without a second thought! Lupas is a fluffy little adventurer, he's always sniffing around new places and looking for spots to share with his brothers and sisters! However, he constantly looks back at his parents, just so he knows he can explore and be safe at the same time! |
soo-per-NOH-vuh
"a stellar explosion that briefly outshines an entire galaxy" Nova is a confident, cocky, and very flirty boy! And he's dang proud of it! Nova is confident with how he looks, he's strongly opinionated, and he's generally just freakin' happy! He's hyper, bound to make you smile, and always so honest. He also can be a little bit of a flirt, generally always talking to the ladies. His only downfall is his cockiness- when he gets too proud and makes a fool of himself. |
FEE-niks
"The Bird" Pheonix is self-centered, she is a very high mantiance type of gal. She refuses to look anything less than perfect, and she expects others to take note of her beauty. She can appear stuck up most of the time.. but there are glimses of the sweetie she can be when she truly gets to know someone. Unfortunently, it is unlikely Pheonix will ever care about anything more than she cares about herself. |
SAT-urn
"The Planet" Saturn is a total sweetie, though she's also very shy and timid. Saturn will always be nice to others when confronted, but otherwise she generally keeps to herself. She rarely shares personal opinions or experiences, and she takes some time to warm up to you. Her favorite thing to do is listen to symphonies and relax underneath the stars. She's a fairly simple girl, with a bright mind, and a soft heart |
TOR-us or TAW-rus
"Bull" Taurus, much like you'd expect from such a big and burly pup, often orders his siblings around. This collie is fully aware of his large and intimidating appearance, and it's clear he takes full advantage of it! It's important not to consider him a bully, he truly adores his brothers and sisters, he'd take a bullet for any of them in a heartbeat! Taurus enjoys being a leader, it boosts his confidence and makes him feel important and needed by his fellow littermates. |
ANT-lee-uh
"The Air Pump" Antlia's petite appearance often misleads others into assuming she's a quiet and feminine puppy. Boy, they couldn't be more wrong! This gal has got as much energy as the Energizer Bunny after drinking Starbucks. This collie pup has no issues with getting her paws dirty, in fact, she loves it! Obviously, Aurora does her best to keep her beautiful daughter clean, but her efforts are all in vain. The cleaner Antlia is, the dirtier she wants to be. The only thing she enjoys more than wrestling with her brothers is beating them at it! At the end of the day, there's nothing Antlia wants more than to cuddle up in a puppy pile with her beloved siblings. |
